Bitumen is primarily used for stone chip road surfacing and the production of asphalt concrete, base and wearing course.

Bitumens are differentiated by penetration grade with softening point and other test variables taken into consideration during road design. The penetration grade bitumens have a thermoplastic property which causes the material to soften at higher temperatures and to harden at lower temperatures. This unique temperature/viscosity relationship is important when determining the performance parameters such as the adhesion, rheology, durability and application temperatures of bitumen.

ASPHALT PRODUCTS supplies all Penetration Graded Bitumen Grades in correspondence to AASHTO standards specification, including:

  • 60 70 PEN GRADE
  • 70 100  PEN GRADE
  • 80 100  PEN GRADE
